NHL Skills Competition 2023 Time, Participants and Events

NHL All-Star Weekend 2023 draws closer by the day, and that means the Skills Competition is right around the corner. This showcase opens the All-Star festivities in exciting fashion as the sport's best duke it out in a variety of fun events before they settle in for the All-Star Game itself.

Here's everything you need to know about the 2023 NHL Skills Competition before it officially kicks off.

NHL Skills Competition 2023 Schedule and Time

NHL All-Star festivities officially begin on Friday, Feb. 3 with the Skills Competition. This event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET and will be held at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. Fans can watch the showcase on ESPN, or stream the action through ESPN+.

Prior to the Skills Competition on Friday, the NHL is also hosting a beach festival at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m ET. There will be an All-Star Red Carpet at the festival from 3-4:30 p.m. ET, giving fans a chance to see their favorite players before this weekend's events.

NHL Skills Competition 2023 List of Events

The 2023 NHL Skills Competition will add three new events alongside hallmarks like Fastest Skater and Accuracy Shooting. This year features the debut of Splash Shot, Pitch 'n Puck and Tendy Tandem. Check out the full list and descriptions for the new events below:

  • Enterprise Splash Shot
  • Chipotle Pitch 'n Puck
  • Discover Tendy Tandem
  • Upper Deck Fastest Skater
  • GEICO Hardest Shot
  • Great Clips Breakaway Challenge
  • Honda Accuracy Shooting

Enterprise Splash Shot requires players to hit all of their targets before dunking their opponent. Whoever manages to put their opponent in the dunk tank first wins.

Chipotle Pitch 'n Puck is a part-hockey, part-golf competition. Players will use a combination of hockey and golf shots, with the goal of making it in the cup in as few attempts as possible.

Discover Tendy Tandem will give goalies some much-needed spotlight on All-Star Weekend. They'll work in duos, with one shooting from marked spots, while the other is defending the net from waves of players.

NHL Skills Competition 2023 Participants

The group of participants for each Skills Competition event will be announced soon. We'll update this space once the rosters are set.

The winner of each event during the Skills Competition takes home $30,000.
