NBA Betting Predictions: 3 Best Bets for Celtics vs Warriors Game 2 (June 5)

Updated:

Game 1 of the NBA Finals lived up to all of the hype, including a furious 40-point fourth quarter from the Boston Celtics, who walked away with a 1-0 series lead. The action rolls back on Sunday night for Game 2 between the Golden State Warriors and Celtics. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently listing the Warriors as 4-point home favorites to even the series, and -178 favorites on the moneyline.

There's a lot of bets available to sort through in Game 2, so The Duel has you covered with the three best bets for NBA Finals Game 2 action. All odds and figures are courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.

NBA Finals Game 2 Best Bets

1. Jayson Tatum - Points: Over 26.5 (-114)

Game 1 was Boston's second-highest team scoring output (120 points) in 19 playoff games. Except, Jayson Tatum was almost nowhere to be found. Instead the likes of Al Horford, Derrick White and Jaylen Brown led the way while Tatum struggled with 12 points on 3-of-17 shooting. The over/under on his Game 2 point total is set at 26.5, right in line with his season average of 26.9 points. It's just too hard to imagine he stays quiet, especially in back-to-back games. The Celtics star knows how to respond to a bad shooting night, as well. He scored less than 20 points just three times this postseason. The following games? He followed up with 39, 30 and 31-point performances. Trust Tatum to find his groove.

2. 1st Quarter Spread: Celtics +0.5 (+108)

Tatum is going to come out firing in this game, looking to settle in early. That bodes well for a Boston team that dominated first quarter spreads, especially on the road. Throughout the season, Boston was 26-11-4 against the spread (ATS) in the first quarters of their road games. They've continued that trend with a 6-4 ATS record in the postseason, save for a four-point deficit in Game 1. Golden State, meanwhile, played just slightly above .500 (21-19-1) ATS in the first quarter of their home games. Behind a strong performance from Tatum, the Celtics will come out firing and behind just a 0.5-point spread (with plus-odds), this is too good of a trend not to capitalize on.

3. Total Game: Warriors -4 (-112)

So, we've got Jayson Tatum going off in Game 2 and the Celtics storming out to an early first quarter lead. But, that's about all the fun Boston will have at the Chase Center on Sunday night. The final best bet for Game 2 is to take the Warriors to cover the spread as 4-point favorites and even the series at 1-1. Game 1 was Golden State's first loss at home this postseason, and the Warriors have not dropped two straight games throughout this run. A team that lost just 10 times at home, and dropped back-to-back games only seven times during the regular season, will find a way to tie up this series. Golden State will rely on Al Horford and Derrick White not doubling their season averages (which they did in Game 1). Don't make this complicated, take the Warriors with points.
