NBA All-Star Game History

The NBA All-Star Game made its debut in 1951, when the Eastern Conference All-Stars topped the Western Conference, 111-94. The Eastern Conference leads the all-time series, 37 wins to 29 wins for the West.

In 2018, the league revamped its All-Star Game format by eliminating the traditional East vs West makeup. Instead, two captains are elected as the single leading vote-getters from both conferences. The captains draft their teams from the entire pool of All-Stars regardless of conference.

LeBron James has been captain for five years running, and owns a perfect 4-0 record in this new format. Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant is the other captain in this year's edition.
