Mike Tomlin Reveals Stance on Coaching Staff Changes After Week 5 Embarrassment

The Pittsburgh Steelers are searching for answers after getting manhandled by the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. Fans are demanding widespread changes to Pittsburgh's personnel and coordinators following this team's 1-4 start, which included a 38-3 thrashing this past Sunday.

Head coach Mike Tomlin weighed in on the potential of shaking things up after the Steelers' embarrassing Week 5 showing.

Tomlin was asked "repeatedly" about making changes to his starters or coaching staff on Sunday, according to Kimberly A. Martin of ESPN. Tomlin surprisingly didn't shoot the idea down. He said, "When you play like this ... everyone understands what happened today was not cool."

It appears Tomlin is turning up the pressure on everyone in the building to step up. No one should assume their job is completely safe as the Steelers look to adjust following a pitiful start to the year.

Tomlin showed he's not afraid to switch things up after pulling Mitch Trubisky as the team's starting quarterback and inserting rookie Kenny Pickett into the lineup. Pickett looked solid in his first start for the team in Week 5, and that success may give Tomlin the motivation to make more tweaks he's considering.

On the coaching side, offensive coordinator Matt Canada should definitely be on the hot seat after Pittsburgh failed to score a touchdown in Week 5 against Buffalo's banged-up defense. Canada's play-calling and personnel usage have been a source of frustration for fans, but Tomlin's comments leave the door open for a potential change if this unit's struggles continue.

The Steelers will try to bounce back at home in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pittsburgh is listed as 8-point underdogs versus Tom Brady on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
