Mike McCarthy Gives Potential Tyron Smith Injury Return Timeline

Mike McCarthy Gives Potential Tyron Smith Injury Return Timeline

Updated:

The Dallas Cowboys were dealt a massive blow before their 2022 season even began after star left tackle Tyron Smith suffered a hamstring injury in the preseason. Smith hasn't suited up yet this year, though he's making progress in his recovery.

Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy provided a potential return timeline for Smith on Friday.

McCarthy told reporters Smith is about two weeks away from returning. He has yet to practice with the team given he's still on the injured reserve list, but it sounds like that day is drawing closer.

Adding Smith back into the mix would be a huge boost to Dallas' offense for the final push before the playoffs. The eight-time Pro Bowler was truly elite in 2021, earning a 91.4 overall grade from ProFootballFocus and only allowing two sacks across 738 snaps played.

The 6-2 Cowboys getting a massive upgrade to their O-line down the stretch should strike fear into the rest of the league. This offense has been humming after Dak Prescott's return, and they're set to be even stronger once their 6-foot-5, 320-pound enforcer returns.
