Miami Dolphins Christmas Day Game History (All-Time Record and Results)

Christmas and the NFL make a perfect pairing. The holiday has long been a featured part of the league's regular-season schedule, leading to some memorable moments.

One team that's no stranger to Christmas Day action is the Miami Dolphins. Here's everything you need to know about the Dolphins' history on Christmas.

Dolphins Christmas Game History

The NFL first played games on Christmas Day in 1971, and Miami was part of that debut. The Dolphins played the second game of a double-header on Dec. 25th in the 1971 postseason, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in double overtime. That remains the only year in NFL history that has ever featured playoff football on Christmas.

Christmas Day then became a fixture in the regular season in 1989. Miami had to wait until 1994, though, to make its return on the holiday. The Dolphins hosted the Detroit Lions on Dec. 25th, 1994, and won the game 27-20.

Miami's most recent appearance on Dec. 25 came in 2022 against the Green Bay Packers. Despite playing at home, the Dolphins lost 26-20 to Green Bay. Jaylen Waddle's 84-yard touchdown was one of the lone highlights for Miami.

Dolphins All-Time Christmas Day Record

The Dolphins are 2-2 all-time on Christmas Day. They defeated the Chiefs in 1971 and Lions in 1994. The franchise's two losses on Dec. 25 occurred against the New York Jets in 2006 and Packers in 2022.
