Time: 7:30 p.m. ET

The 2022-23 NBA season has another slate of action-packed games planned for Thursday, Oct. 27. One matchup that sticks out above the rest is a clash between the Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets. The Mavs just picked up a 113-111 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday, leaving time to tell how they'll rebound tonight.

Meanwhile, the Nets have now lost back-to-back contests following their 110-99 defeat at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. Considering how it's been three-and-a-half years since Brooklyn last beat Dallas at home, Steve Nash's team must start this game on the right foot.

Mavericks vs Nets Prediction & Pick

It's a small sample size, but Luka Doncic has already taken the next step to superstar this season. The face of the Mavericks is averaging 34.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists thus far. Considering how he averaged 29.4 PTS/8.8 REB/8.0 AST in his last five games against the Nets, there's a good chance he'll continue his success.

Doncic is also fortunate to have a solid supporting cast around him. Christian is averaging 24.3 PPG in his first few games as a Maverick, while Spencer Dinwiddie and Tim Haradway Jr. have combined for 30.5 PPG so far.

Unfortunately for the Nets, they don't have the depth needed to keep up with the Mavs. Outside of Kevin Durant (32.3 PPG) and Kyrie Irving (27.3 PPG), Nic Claxton is the only other Nets player putting up a double-digit PPG average.

Throw in the fact that the Nets are a bottom-10 team in both offensive and defensive ratings, and it isn't hard to like the Mavericks' odds of winning here.

Final Score Prediction: Mavericks: 114 | Nets: 103

Mavericks vs Nets Betting Trends

Mavericks vs Nets Best Bet

As mentioned above, the Mavericks have been victorious in eight of their last 11 visits to Brooklyn. With this being the Nets' third game in the last four days, I can see fatigue being a factor in their loss.

A 2.5-point spread isn't too tough for the Mavericks to cover, especially since the average win margin of their last eight road games against the Nets is 6.3 points.

Bet: Mavericks -2.5 (-112)
