Major Shakeup Coming to Red Sox Broadcast Booth

For the past 50 years, baseball has been the center of attention for Hall of Fame pitcher Dennis Eckersley. He was first drafted by Cleveland back in 1972 and enjoyed 24 dominant years pitching across five different MLB franchises.

As many ballplayers do, Eckersley followed up his brilliant baseball career with a venture into broadcasting when he joined the Boston Red Sox NESN team back in 2003. On Monday, the Red Sox legend revealed his run in the booth will come to a close at the end of the season.

The 2022 season will be Eckersley's final year broadcasting Red Sox games on NESN, a decision he made to spend more time with his family.

Eckersley has been touted for his charming on-air personality, described by the NESN staff as "effortless banter and smart analysis." His on-air work was recognized with a New England Emmy award in 2021.

The Hall of Famer spent eight of his 24 playing years in Boston, notching one All-Star appearance in 241 appearances.

Eckersley is currently 67 years old. He's best known for his dynamic transition from a starting pitcher to closer. In addition to 100 complete games, Eckersley finished his career with 390 saves, all with a stellar 3.50 ERA.
