List of NFL Bye Weeks by Team for 2022 Fantasy Football Season Week 6

The 2022 NFL season has officially reached Week 6, and that means bye weeks are upon us. There's several teams that won't be in action this weekend, removing plenty of important players from fantasy football lineups.

Here's everything fantasy managers need to know about upcoming byes in Week 6.

What Does Bye Mean in Fantasy Football?

A bye in football is when a team doesn't have a game scheduled for that week. This off time is crucial for squads given the long grind that is an NFL season. Having a week away from practice and game prep gives players time to rest or heal from any injuries they're dealing with. It also allows coaches to take stock of their rosters and consider implementing any changes for the following game.

Since players on byes don't have a game that week, they need to be removed from fantasy football starting lineups and placed on the bench. This has to be manually done, though. Otherwise those inactive players will stay in lineups and post zero points for teams given they're not participating in any matchup.

What NFL Teams Have a Bye This Week?

In Week 6 of the 2022 season, four teams will be on byes. They are the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans.

That means important fantasy football players like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jamaal Williams, D'Andre Swift, TJ Hockenson, Dameon Pierce, Brandin Cooks, Derek Carr, Davante Adams, Josh Jacobs, Darren Waller, Derrick Henry and Robert Woods will all be sidelined. Managers need to place these players on their benches to avoid getting zeroes from inactive players.

Fantasy Bye Week Strategy

Given the amount of fantasy-relevant players off in Week 6, managers may find themselves scrambling for replacements, especially since the first byes of the season have arrived so quickly. There's still plenty of time to figure out your lineups, though.

The waive wire is the prime destination to go for bye-week fillers. Running backs rostered in 50% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues right now include Mike Boone (36%), Rachaad White (34%), James Cook (29%) and Mark Ingram (29%). For anyone needing to fill a hole at RB, these players should be top targets.

Wide receiver options in Week 6 include Jakobi Meyers (48%), Joshua Palmer (30%) and Zay Jones (26%). Alec Pierce (8%) and Marvin Jones Jr. (5%) could be targets for those in deeper leagues.

The usual streaming names are available for anyone down their starting tight end in Week 6. Irv Smith Jr. (49%), Hunter Henry (38%), Hayden Hurst (30%) and Taysom Hill (30%) are all worth consideration. The same goes for quarterbacks given the streaming choices there. Geno Smith (35%), Jimmy Garoppolo (26%) and Daniel Jones (22%) could all work in a pinch.

Managers shouldn't just rely on picking up fill-in players for that week, though. It's important to know your key players' schedules and plan ahead if they have upcoming byes. That way you can add players now that won't be as in-demand if you need them for Week 7 or beyond. This is how smart managers get a leg up on their leaguemates.

How Many Bye Weeks in NFL?

Each NFL team has just one bye week during the 2022 season. Some happen to fall earlier in the year, while others can be much later. It's important to know when your starting players will be off in order to make moves that will keep you winning despite their absences.
