Lions Odds to Make the Playoffs Point Towards Disappointing Finish in Week 18

Lions Odds to Make the Playoffs Point Towards Disappointing Finish in Week 18

Updated:

The Detroit Lions are one of the best stories of the 2022 NFL season. Having not made the playoffs since 2016, and finishing with a losing record every year but one in that span, the Lions head into Week 18 in near total control of their own destiny.

Detroit needs two things to happen in the regular season finale, a win over the Green Bay Packers and a Seahawks loss to the Los Angeles Rams to break this playoff drought.

Unfortunately, the latest odds to make the playoffs on FanDuel Sportsbook set Detroit up for a disappointing finish.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook's odds, Detroit holds less than favorable +790 odds to make the playoffs. They are heavily favored at -1500 odds to miss out on postseason play.

The Lions are between a group of three NFC teams vying for that crucial No. 7 seed. Detroit sits in contention with Green Bay and Seattle for this final spot. The first task is beating a Green Bay squad that's one of the hottest teams in football right now. Aaron Rodgers and company have won four straight and the offense has finally clicked into place with a bevy of rookie wide receivers.

FanDuel shows Green Bay as -240 moneyline favorites in Week 18's Sunday Night Football clash.

Not only does Detroit have to upset the Packers, but they must worry about something beyond their control. The Seahawks square up against a battered Rams squad and hold -280 moneyline odds to win that matchup on Sunday.

It may look like a disappointing finish, but crazier things have happened in the NFL.
