Likely Ross Stripling Free Agency Price Tag Revealed

Likely Ross Stripling Free Agency Price Tag Revealed

Updated:

It's been less than a week since the World Series ended and teams around baseball already have their eyes on free agency. That includes the Toronto Blue Jays, who are likely desperate to lock up Ross Stripling for an extended time.

Stripling officially became a free agent on Sunday, and now MLB insider Kiley McDaniel has revealed the expected price tag on his next contract.

McDaniel believes Stripling will garner a contract worth three years and $36 million, or $12 million in average annual value (AAV). That's a big bump from his current one-year deal worth $3.8 million.

Stripling had a career year for the Blue Jays in 2022. He pitched to a 3.01 ERA across 24 starts, posing a career-low 7.8 hits per nine innings.

McDaniel believes Stripling is more of a mid-tier option, someone who offers "reliable regular-season innings more than a primary playoff starter."
