Latest Update on Davante Adams Illness is Huge Relief for Raiders

Updated:

Las Vegas Raiders fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Wide receiver Davante Adams is expected to suit up against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday despite missing two days of practice due to flu-like symptoms. Quarterback Derek Carr's favorite target will be on the field running routes once again.

Adams was absent from practice on Wednesday and Thursday as he tended to his own recovery with some rest. The five-time Pro Bowler returned to action on Friday and was listed as questionable on Las Vegas' final injury report. Things continue to trend in the right direction ahead of 1 p.m. kickoff.

Having Adams on the field gives the Raiders a massive advantage in the passing game. The Saints will be without starting cornerback Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) in Week 8, leaving the likes of Paulson Adebo and Chris Harris Jr. to lead the secondary. That's a matchup Adams can exploit.

On the year, Adams has logged 509 yards and 6 touchdowns on 37 receptions across six games. His yards per catch average sits at a career-high mark of 13.8 and he has only posted 1 drop. Adams also ranks ninth in the NFL in targets (63), proving how vital he is to the success of the Raiders' offense.

Look for Adams to take on an even bigger role on Sunday considering both tight end Darren Waller (hamstring) and wideout Mack Hollins (heel) remain questionable to suit up. For now, the Raiders are slated as a 1.5-point road favorite against the Saints, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
