Jason Kelce Discusses Retirement Possibility Ahead of NFC Championship

The Philadelphia Eagles have a chance to make their first Super Bowl appearance since 2017 when they play the San Francisco 49ers in the 2023 NFC Championship game on Sunday. Several members of that special 2017 squad are still core members of Jalen Hurts' team, including center Jason Kelce.

But, as is the case with any elimination games, there are thoughts about what will happen if the Eagles lose. Especially for a 35-year-old Kelce who has pondered his retirement plans for a few seasons now.

Kelce recently opened up about the possibility of him retiring after this season ends.

"So, I've learned now that I don't know when that last game's going to come. Maybe I think about it a little bit less. There's always a chance that's going to be the situation. But, you just try to think about the game and focus on taking in the moment and being 100 percent there. It's hard enough doing it that way. It's going to be a lot harder if you're not focused," said Kelce.

Kelce didn't take a hard stance, one way or the other, but his quote means retirement is very much a possibility. Thankfully, the six-time Pro Bowler maintains his focus on the task ahead: beating the 49ers on Sunday.

There's a great chance Kelce and his Eagles' squad will get their chance at playing in one more Super Bowl. As of Friday, the Eagles are considered 2.5-point favorites per NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
