Friday, Jan. 30's NCAA college basketball slate includes a Big 12 collision between the No. 12 Iowa State Cyclones and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Iowa State has bounced back and forth between wins and losses over the last few weeks, most recently falling 78-61 to Missouri over the weekend. Meanwhile, Texas Tech ended an eight-game skid with Saturday's 76-68 victory over LSU. Now, the Red Raiders look for their first conference victory of the season tonight.

Can Iowa State walk out of United Supermarkets Arena with the victory? Or does Texas Tech have what it takes to upset its Big 12 rival?

Iowa State vs Texas Tech Prediction & Pick

Even though Iowa State hasn't been too consistent lately, beating Texas Tech shouldn't be too much of an issue. For starters, the Red Raiders are 0-8 when it comes to in-conference play this season, whereas the Cyclones are 6-2 in that regard.

Iowa State also has one of the nation's top defenses. The Cyclones only allow 60.5 points (No. 11) while forcing 18.3 turnovers (No. 3) and recording 9.6 steals (No. 4) per game. I don't see Texas Tech's offense overcoming that defense, especially when the Red Raiders average 14.1 turnovers this season (T-No. 294) and have only hit 38.5% of field-goal attempts in their last three games.

With Texas Tech also being 0-7 against ranked schools during the 2022-23 campaign, Iowa State has no excuse to lose tonight.

Final Score Prediction: Iowa State: 73 | Texas Tech: 64

Iowa State vs Texas Tech Best Bet

Though both Iowa State and Texas Tech boast solid defenses, a 128.5-point total is a bit low for my liking. After all, five of the last seven Cyclones-Red Raiders matchups have exceeded that total, averaging 130.1 points in those contests.

Furthermore, the over is 6-3 in Iowa State's last nine games and 11-5 in Texas Tech's last 16. Considering that both teams have also exceeded 128.5 points in most of their respective games over the previous few weeks, I expect more points to be scored than expected tonight.

Bet: Over 128.5 Points (-110)
