Gulfstream Horse Racing Picks including and Fountain of Youth Stakes for Saturday 3/4/23

The Gulfstream Championship Meet continues with a huge day of stakes races Saturday at Gulfstream Park in Florida. That includes the Kentucky Derby prep and points race, Fountain of Youth Stakes. The Saturday, March 4 card has 14 races including 9 stakes with first post at 11:00 a.m. ET.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, monitor the weather and keep an eye on the track conditions.

According to numberFire horse racing projections, these are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing today.

1. Good Governance and Emmanuel, Race 8

Race 8 is the $150,000 Grade 3 Canadian Turf for older horses at 1 1/16 miles. The numberFire data picks Safe Conduct (8/1) along with Good Governance (6/1), who Horse Racing Nation also rates a top win contender along with Dakota Gold (12/1) and the prohibitive favorite, Emmanuel (7/5).

Emmanuel won the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby a month ago, and he'll be running along the early lead for top trainer Todd Pletcher. Good Governance cuts back in distance and is a live value play after facing stronger runners his last two starts.

2. Charge It and Endorsed, Race 10

Race 10 is the $200,000 Grade 2 Gulfstream Mile for older horses. The numberFire algorithm projects the heavy favorite Charge It (4/5) to win with leading jockey Luis Saez riding for top trainer Todd Pletcher.

The Horse Racing Nation Super Screener picks also like Charge It as a top win contender along with Octane (15/1) and Endorsed (4/1), who won a Grade 2 stakes race here five months ago by 2-lengths over Octane and well clear of Noble Drama (20/1).

3. Shadow Dragon and Forte, Race 14

Race 14 is the $400,000 Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles. This is a Kentucky Derby Championship Series race with the top-5 finishers awarded qualifying points (50-20-15-10-5).

The numberFire data picks the favorite Forte (7/5) to out-duel Blazing Sevens (7/2). Forte is led by the top jockey/trainer tandem of Irad Ortiz, Jr. and Todd Pletcher, and Forte has beaten Blazing Sevens by margin in both previous starts.

Horse Racing Nation's top win contenders include Rocket Can (8/1), Forte (7/5), and Blazing Sevens (7/2).
