FanDuel Fantasy Golf Picks for the U.S. Open 2022 at The Country Club
This week, the golfing world is turning its attention to the third major of the year, with players ready for the U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, MA.
With all the world's top professionals and even the top amateurs competing for the trophy, the stage is set for the toughest and most exciting four days of golf this year.
U.S. Open 2022 Fantasy Picks
Rory McIlroy Fantasy
I rode with Rory McIlroy here last week and he delivered a win, so I'm going with him to continue his impressive hot streak in Massachusetts this week. McIlroy has now placed in the top-20 in five consecutive events. He's been top-10 in four of those five, top-five in three of those five and has a win as well. McIlroy even made sure to throw some shade at LIV backer Greg Norman following his win (surpassing Norman's 20 career PGA Tour wins), along with the current players participating in that tour. This week, those LIV guys will be back teeing it up alongside the PGA Tour guys since the USGA has allowed their participation in this event, which, by their admission and tradition is an open event. I'm expecting McIlroy to channel his inner Michael Jordan and take it personally. When you combine probably the most talented player in the world with him playing some of his best golf and a tournament he's ready to "take it personally," I love those odds. Even if Rory doesn't win, I have him making a major push to be right there.
Jordan Spieth Fantasy
Jordan Spieth has been almost as impressive as McIlroy over the past five starts. He has four top-20 finishes, which includes a win, a second-place finish and a T7. Again, one of the world's most talented players playing some of his best golf, Spieth could be a serious threat this week. His putting game is the only place where he hasn't gained strokes this season, and he ranks top-30 on tour in every other Strokes Gained category. If he can keep his short stick in check, he could very well come away with a win.
U.S. Open Sleepers 2022
Brooks Koepka Fantasy
Brooks Koepka comes into the event tied for the 21st-best odds, not exactly what you might think for a two-time winner of the event. While Koepka has struggled big time with injuries and hasn't exactly fared well in the first two majors of the year, he is still a threat anytime he tees it up. He has admitted himself he puts it into another gear for majors. While his body may have held him back from that earlier in the year, working to get back for the U.S. Open could mean he's in better shape, and when someone of his talents has odds like this, he has to be considered.
