Eagles Interviewing Big-Name Coordinator Candidate on Monday

The offseason hasn't been too kind to the Philadelphia Eagles. The team has lost both of its coordinators to head-coaching opportunities with other teams, leaving two big holes to fill ahead of the 2023 season.

Luckily, there's plenty of interest in these jobs following the Eagles' Super Bowl run. And now Philadelphia is set to interview a big-name defensive coordinator candidate on Monday.

Coaching veteran Vance Joseph will interview in Philadelphia to begin next week, according to Mike Klis of 9NEWS. Joseph is also in contention for the DC job under new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton.

The Arizona Cardinals made the surprising decision to part ways with Joseph earlier this week, putting a highly respected defensive mind on the market once again.

Joseph rose up the coaching ranks after playing two seasons in the NFL, eventually being hired as defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins in 2016. He then took over as head coach of the Broncos from 2017-2018, though a mediocre 11-21 record in two seasons ended his tenure there.

Since leaving Denver, Joseph has served as DC in Arizona. The 2020 and 2021 campaigns were strong showings from the 50-year-old's unit, as the Cardinals' defense ranked No. 13 in yards and No. 12 in points, followed by No. 11 finishes in both categories.

With the Eagles' insane talent, Joseph could make sure the team doesn't skip a beat following Jonathan Gannon's departure.
