Eagles Get Concerning News With Miles Sanders Injury Update

The Philadelphia Eagles revamped their offense during the offseason, but now injury concerns are growing in their backfield. Running back Miles Sanders missed his fourth straight practice on Friday as he continues to deal with a hamstring issue that head coach Nick Sirianni is concerned about.

Sirianni told reporters that the team opting for a cautious approach when it comes to Sanders' recovery. The leg tightness/soreness he is experiencing could get worse if he is rushed back too soon. All signs point to the fourth-year pro sitting out against during Sunday's preseason game.

This is familiar feeling for Eagles fans. Sanders missed four games during the 2020 season with hamstring and knee sprains, while he missed five games during the 2021 season due to ankle and hand injuries. He hasn't had a chance to live up to his true potential because he cannot stay healthy.

Sanders was up-and-down in his production last year. While he impressed on the ground averaging 5.6 yards per carry, he also posted a career-low 158 receiving yards and scored zero touchdowns. Defenses started to see him as a one-dimensional RB capable of only breaking free up the middle.

The only sure thing for Philly against the Cleveland Browns is that running backs Kennedy Brooks and Jason Huntley will see extended carries. As for backups Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott, Sirianni has yet to reveal if his starters will see any reps at all. That decision will be made this weekend.

The Eagles are a 3-point road favorite against the Browns with odds set at -145 on the moneyline, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
