Eagles Get Big Update on Jordan Davis' Injury After Week 8 Game
The Philadelphia Eagles remained undefeated in Week 8, but they suffered a loss along the way. Rookie Jordan Davis was carted off in the second quarter of Sunday's contest with a concerning lower-leg injury, immediately raising concerns.
Now Philadelphia has received some big news on Davis' health.
The belief is Davis suffered a high-ankle sprain, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The usual timeline for this kind of injury is 4-6 weeks, though Davis will require additional testing to determine the severity.
This is obviously a big blow to Philadelphia's defense, given the rookie is staring down an extended absence. However, the silver lining is the Georgia product doesn't have a season-ending injury. That was the initial fear given he needed a cart to get back to the locker room.
Davis has seen solid use right away on this top-ranked defense. He's been the exact kind of run-stopper the team hoped for, earning an impressive 75.5 run-defense grade from ProFootballFocus so far.
Now the 7-0 Eagles will look to make do without a key depth piece. It'd be no surprise if the team made a move ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline to shore up its D-line for the second half of the year.
