Dolphins Get Huge Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update Ahead of Week 6
The Miami Dolphins' quarterback situation is in a dire place heading into Week 6. Starter Tua Tagovailoa is out with a concussion, backup Teddy Bridgewater has joined him in protocol after being removed from his Week 5 start, which leaves rookie Skylar Thompson as the last one standing.
However, this QB room has received some major news on its injured starter.
Tagovailoa is returning to the practice field on Wednesday, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Though it's on a limited basis, this is a major step in the right direction after his scary head injury.
Rapoport said Tagovailoa is still "unlikely" to play this Sunday as he works on clearing concussion protocol, but having him back on the field in any capacity is great news. If things go well, a Week 7 start against the Pittsburgh Steelers doesn't appear out of the question.
Tagovailoa missed last Sunday's loss to the New York Jets as he recovers from the blow he took against the Cincinnati Bengals. Bridgewater started in his place in Week 5, but he was knocked out with elbow and head injuries on Miami's first drive, leaving Thompson to take over. The rookie completed 19 passes for 166 yards and an interception.
Hopefully Bridgewater is able to recover in time to start against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. Given their QB questions, the Dolphins are 3-point underdogs in that matchup, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
