Darius Slay Responds to 49ers' Injury Complaints

Updated:

While cornerback Darius Slay and the Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for a pivotal Super Bowl 57 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, that didn't stop them from some last-minute reflection over their NFC Championship blowout victory. Philadelphia smashed the 2-seed San Francisco 49ers en route to their first Super Bowl appearance since 2017.

An injury to 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy certainly played a factor in the outcome, but Slay is tired of the complaints from members of San Francisco's roster. He reacted harshly to these complaints.

Slay isn't interested in any narrative that the 49ers would have been more competitive had it not been for their rash of injury issues. After all, the team was already onto their third-string quarterback in Purdy before veteran journeyman Josh Johnson was thrust into the most important game of his career.

But, injuries are a part of football. And a 24-point blowout isn't indicative of one player magically turning that into a close game.

Slay got one final jab at the 49ers, but the attention now turns to Kansas City. Early NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook show the Eagles as 1.5-point favorites in Super Bowl 57.
