Argueta vs Lawrence Prediction
Dan Argueta failed his first UFC test when he fell to Damon Jackson via unanimous decision back in June, but rebounded with a unanimous decision victory of his own over Nick Aguirre in January. The 29-year-old should want to take this fight to the ground given he faces a 2-inch reach disadvantage.
The only problem is that on the ground is where Ronnie Lawrence thrives. Lawrence averages an insane 7.03 takedowns landed per 15 minutes at a 77% accuracy rate, which greatly outshines Argueta. Argueta only averages 2.50 takedowns landed per 15 minutes at a 55% accuracy rate.
Lawrence enters Saturday having won three of his four career UFC bouts, but most recently lost to Saidyokub Kakhramonov via unanimous decision in July. A bounce-back performance seems likely as he can win the fight on the ground or exploit Arugeta's weak strike defense in an upright battle.
Winner: Ronnie Lawrence
Argueta vs Lawrence Best Bet
Grabbing Lawrence to win by points at plus odds to too good to pass up here. After all, three of his last four victories have come via decision, while Argueta's only career loss was determined by the judges. Both of these fighters have proven they can grind out fights in an attempt to wear down their foes. In this case, Lawrence's UFC experience gives him just enough of an edge to be worth trusting.
Bet: Ronnie Lawrence by Points (+110)
