D'Onta Foreman Reveals Thoughts on Returning to Panthers in 2023

Updated:

After four fairly uneventful years splitting time with the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans, running back D'Onta Foreman found a new home with the Carolina Panthers in 2022. Flash forward to the somewhat surprising midseason trade of Christian McCaffrey, and Foreman flourished with a true RB1 role on the roster.

Foreman heads into the offseason with uncertainty and will officially hit unrestricted free agency. On Thursday, he discussed the possibility of staying in Carolina.

Panthers insider David Newton reported Foreman's desire to stick around. He told reporters that his "first choice" is to return to the Panthers in 2023.

It seems like a perfect fit. Carolina is far from ready to compete and still has a big question mark hanging over their heads at quarterback. But, to lock up a relatively cheap and now-proven RB1 option for a few years makes perfect sense.

Foreman has flourished since taking over the starting role. He's started 8 games and set career highs with 846 rushing yards, 196 touches and 5 total touchdowns.

For now, the Panthers must get through Week 18 and try to finish off the year at 7-10. The Panthers take on the New Orleans Saints in the regular season finale and are considered 3.5-point road underdogs, per NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
