Contracts of 7 Packers Players Officially Void on Monday

Updated:

The Green Bay Packers' roster is in a state of flux heading into the 2023 offseason. A decision looms on not only quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but several other positions as well.

Complicating matters even more, the contracts of seven players officially void on Monday.

Adrian Amos, Randall Cobb, Mason Crosby, Marcedes Lewis, Dean Lowry, Jarran Reed and Robert Tonyan all saw their contracts void on Feb. 20. Their deals now leave behind a total dead-money cap hit of $16.4 million on the 2023 books.

This charge is the result of the Packers using void years to spread players' cap hits further out, which is common for teams in need of immediate relief. The bill is finally due for these players, though, so Green Bay will have to manage this dead money while filling out its roster this offseason.

All seven contributors are now scheduled to become free agents when the new league year starts on March 15. The team could certainly bring back some or all of these names, but the Packers won't be able to get out of their dead-money hits this year.
