Kentucky Derby Week is finally here. In just a few short days, 20 of the world's best horses will participate in the 149th Run for the Roses and aim for eternal glory.

One rising contender everyone has their eyes on ahead of this race is Confidence Game, who enters fresh off a come-from-behind win. Here's everything you need to know about this colt as you plan out your Kentucky Derby betting strategy.

Confidence Game Kentucky Derby Odds and Post Position

Confidence Game currently owns 20-1 odds to win the 2023 Kentucky Derby, according to FanDuel. It's a logical landing spot for the brown colt considering he ranks 12th among Derby contenders in terms of qualifying points (57).

Confidence Game Horse Trainer and Jockey

Confidence Game is trained by the experienced Keith Desormeaux. The brother of Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux, Keith has yet to capture a win at the Kentucky Derby. His closest result came when Exaggerator finished second in 2016. Desormeaux has employed an unorthodox strategy this year, providing Confidence Game with a 10-week layoff prior to this weekend.

Confidence Game's jockey for the 2023 Kentucky Derby is James Graham. The accomplished racer is looking to break through in this event after going 0-2 over his previous starts here. Graham's best finish came when he finished eighth aboard Lone Sailor in 2018.

Confidence Game Race History

Confidence Game has a career record of 7 starts and 3 wins with 3 second- or third-place finishes all-time. He enters the Derby having won two of his last three races, including his most recent one at Oaklawn Park on Feb. 25, 2023.

Confidence Game Kentucky Derby Prediction and Pick

Confidence Game showcased a different side to his racing style by winning the Rebel (G2) at Oaklawn Park in late February thanks to a rally on the far turn. It was different given that he led all the way in his first two wins.

However, Confidence Game is not considered a favorite to win the Kentucky Derby for a reason. Giving him a 10-week layoff is an unproven strategy in horse racing and Confidence Game's best win came on a muddied track.

Bettors looking for a longshot option should certainly consider backing Confidence Game, but no one should be putting down a large wager on the horse.
