Concerning Update Emerges on SNY-Keith Hernandez Contract Talks
Keith Hernandez is not only a legendary former player for the New York Mets, but he is also a vital part of their broadcast team, a team that is considered one of the best local broadcast crews in all of baseball.
That crew is now in danger of not being whole next season. Hernandez is still currently seeking a new contract with SNY, the Mets' television station. The two sides have been talking in recent weeks, but no deal has been met yet.
Hernandez was the first basemen for the famed 1980's Mets teams, more specifically the 1986 championship team. He was one of New York's best players throughout his tenure.
Up until now, Hernandez has done color commentary along side Ron Darling and Gary Cohen since 2006 and done it well.
If a new contract can't be reached that team will be broken up for the first time in more than 15 years. You would hope to assume the Mets and Hernandez find a way to get a deal done in an effort to keep this great broadcast team together. Let's just hope the talks are rejuvinated in the new year on good terms.
