College World Series Odds Favor Wake Forest Over LSU and Florida (But Only One is the Best Bet)

Updated:

With the NCAA Baseball Super Regionals in the rearview mirror, it is time for the College World Series to get underway. Eight teams remain in the hunt for a championship as the action begins on Friday, June 16. Players and coaches alike have their eyes set on hoisting the trophy in Omaha, Nebraska.

Much like any other year, this field features a clear favorite and a clear underdog. Wake Forest enters with a 52-10 overall record and four of its last five victories have been by a double-digit run margin. Meanwhile, Oral Roberts is looking to pull off some upsets in its first trip back to Omaha in 45 years.

The Super Regionals showed that no team should be underestimated, though, as it only takes one amazing pitching performance or one offensive outbreak for the tournament to be turned on its head. With that being said, here's a look at the each team's odds to win it all over on FanDuel Sportsbook.

College World Series Prediction & Best Bet

It's always fun to root for upsets, but I am not going to be fading the favorite here. Wake Forest is back in Omaha for the first time since 1955 and its desire to win a title is at an all-time high. This team is insanely balanced as it enters ranked first in team ERA (2.84) and third in on-base percentage (.432).

The Demon Deacons' pitching staff is a scary sight for opposing lineups. Rhett Lowder leads the way with a ridiculous 15-0 record and a 1.92 ERA in 115 innings pitched, while Josh Hartle follows him up with an 11-2 record and a 2.80 ERA in 96 1/3 innings. That duo gives the team a chance to beat anyone.

Not to be outdone, Wake Forest's offense features a star player as well. Infielder Brock Wilden is tied for the second-most home runs in the nation (30) and ranks fourth in terms of slugging percentage (.835). The Demon Deacons are capable of winning either a pitching duel or an offensive showdown.

Grab these odds now as a win or two to open the College World Series will only cause them to get even shorter.

Bet: Wake Forest Demon Deacons (+240)
