Chiefs Linked to Running Back Trade Rumors After Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury

Chiefs Linked to Running Back Trade Rumors After Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury

Updated:

The Kansas City Chiefs' backfield took a hit on Sunday after Clyde Edwards-Helaire suffered a knee injury against the Buffalo Bills. The second-year running back was officially diagnosed with an MCL sprain that will likely sideline him for at least few weeks.

With their lead back out, Kansas City has been linked to a trade rumor that would help shore up their current backfield.

Chiefs Trade Rumors

The Chiefs have "looked into" a trade for Marlon Mack, according to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler. The veteran has been solid in his return after a torn Achilles, but he's been the subject of trade rumors given the Indianapolis Colts' crowded backfield.

Mack could give Kansas City a boost in the interim without CEH. The fifth-year pro is more than capable of stepping up, as evidenced by his average of nearly 1,000 yards over two seasons as the Colts' lead back from 2018-2019.

This season, Mack is averaging 4.3 yards per attempt, though he's been limited to just 20 carries so far. He would help solidify a Chiefs backfield with only Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon behind Edwards-Helaire on the depth chart.
