Chiefs Get Massive Patrick Mahomes Injury Update Ahead of Super Bowl

Kansas City Chiefs fans have spent the last three weeks worrying about the status of Patrick Mahomes' ankle ever since he injured it during the Divisional Round. After weeks of monitoring his injury reports and practice updates, however, Chiefs fans can finally stop fretting.

Patrick Mahomes Injury Update

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Sunday morning that Mahomes looked "noticeably better" and "shined" at practice during the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

This is tremendous news for Kansas City, as Mahomes appears healthy and mostly recovered heading into the big game.

The two-time MVP originally sustained his high ankle sprain during the second quarter of the Chiefs' win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Jan. 21. He briefly left the game but returned to propel Kansas City to a 27-20 victory.

Based on Schefter's tweet, Mahomes toughed it out at practice the following week and played through the injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. Mahomes delivered an impressive performance with 326 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, outdueling Joe Burrow and leading the Chiefs to their third Super Bowl appearance in four years.

Now after two weeks to recover, the 27-year-old gunslinger appears to be all systems go for Super Bowl 57. He'll try to lead Kansas City past the Philadelphia Eagles as 1.5-point underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl odds.
