Chas McCormick Responds to Dusty Baker's Competition Comments

Updated:

The Houston Astros reported to Spring Training earlier this week with one goal in mind: repeating at World Series champions. There are not a lot of question marks surrounding the deepest roster in baseball, nor holes in each starting position on the roster.

Sometimes though, this creates a situation where two talented players are vying for playing time. Center field is one of those positions in flux and Dusty Baker indicated a competition will be held between Chas McCormick and Jake Meyers.

McCormick responded to Baker's comments about the brewing competition.

An ultimate team player, McCormick is handling the situation with grace. "He's right. I have to earn my spot. I haven't proven myself as a starter yet," said McCormick.

This is the exact type of team spirit and attitude that illustrates the championship culture down in Houston.
