Cam Heyward Shares Emotional Details Behind Connor Heyward's First TD

Updated:

The Pittsburgh Steelers earned a big win in Week 13 against the Atlanta Falcons. One exciting play from the 19-16 victory occurred in the second quarter, when tight end Connor Heyward scored his first career touchdown in the NFL.

Heyward's brother, longtimer Steeler Cameron, shared some details behind what made Connor's score even more emotional.

Cam revealed he and his brother both went to visit their dad's grave prior to the game in Atlanta. Then Connor went on to score against their father's old team, and Cameron said he was glad cameras didn't catch his emotional reaction to the touchdown.

This game certainly meant a ton to the Heyward family. Craig Heyward, Cam and Connor's father, played three seasons for the Falcons. That stint included his best year as a pro ever, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 1995 as a member of the team.

Sunday marked the first time both Cam and rookie Connor played in Atlanta together, and the latter's score made the return even sweeter. This certainly won't be a game the sixth-round pick or his brother ever forget.
