Brandon McManus Takes Shot at Russell Wilson Following Broncos' Overtime Loss

Updated:

Sunday's loss was an eerily painful sight for Denver Broncos fans. Not only did the Broncos lose their sixth straight contest to the Las Vegas Raiders, but they did so with a complete failure of clock management at the end of the game. That's not a new theme for quarterback Russell Wilson and head coach Nathaniel Hackett.

One Broncos player, kicker Brandon McManus, is growing tired of this. He called out Wilson during postgame comments recorded by local Denver radio station KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM.

The Broncos held a 3-point lead late in the fourth quarter. Denver even held the ball after the Two-Minute Warning with the Raiders out of timeouts. Instead of milking the clock with another run on 3rd and 10, Wilson opted to throw an incomplete pass. This resulted in a punt and the Raiders taking the ball with 1:43 on the clock. It took them 1:27 to score the game-tying field goal before a walk-off win in OT.

An extra 30-40 second runoff resulting a run play made the difference in this win. Here's what McManus had to say about the situation.

"I don't think we handled the situation at the end of the game correctly with time management so we need to continue to harp on those because we've been in that situation every week. The best players need to make the plays to win the game."

The best player clearly refers to his quarterback and another dismal display of clock management. And the frustrations are only heightened because this is a situation that's happened repeatedly in 2022.
