Brandon Marshall Calls Out Josh McDaniels for Jay Cutler Breakup
Updated:
Despite playing for six different NFL teams over a 13-year career in the NFL, Brandon Marshall's tenure in the league is often remembered hand-in-hand with one other name: Jay Cutler. Even if most fans don't remember Josh McDaniels' stay as head coach for the Denver Broncos for the pair.
That's because Cutler was his quarterback with not one, but two separate franchises between the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears. While the pair of personalities and talents may have had obvious chemistry on the field, Marshall recently opened up about that connection off the field.
On a recent episode of the "All Things Covered with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden" podcast on CBS Sports, Marshall focused on a one-word description of that relationship in, "tumultuous."
Yet, perhaps, the biggest bomb dropped in this discussion was Marshall's finger pointed at McDaniels, who he claimed broke up the chemistry of that Broncos team and between Marshall and Cutler.
However, that's not to say Marshall spoke poorly of Cutler, in fact, he even gave Cutler credit for turning him into a WR1 after both players were drafted in the same 2006 class, with Cutler going in the first round and Marshall in the fourth.
Even though some NFL star wide receivers, Marshall included, have been known to bring a little extra flair of personality to the microphone and locker room, you have to give Marshall credit for backing up his quarterback, even if that blame falls on then-head coach Josh McDaniels.
