Brandin Cooks Adds Fuel to Vikings Trade Rumors Hours Before Deadline

Updated:
Tuesday's NFL trade deadline is hours away and all eyes are on Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks. With the Texans projected to miss the playoffs yet again, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that multiple teams are in on Cooks, including the Minnesota Vikings.
While rumors are sometimes just that — rumors — Cooks has since added some fuel to the fire. One Reddit user has pointed out that the 29-year-old has been liking tweets about a potential move to the Vikings, making it seem like Cooks is pushing for a move to Minnesota.
Brandin Cooks Trade Rumors
It'll be interesting to see if Cooks does get moved by the 4 p.m. ET deadline. Back in 2021, the Stockton, CA native told ESPN's Sarah Barshop that he's "not going to accept any more trades." He's already been traded three times in his career and isn't a fan of uprooting his family every time.
Still, Cooks is approaching his 30s and isn't getting any younger. If he wants to win a Super Bowl, it's unlikely that it'll happen any time soon with the shape that the Texans are in. Joining the NFC North-leading Vikings would certainly give him a better path to a potential championship ring.
Besides, the Vikings could use a wideout like Cooks. Though they have one of the better passing attacks in the league, there just isn't much depth outside of Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen. The two are also the only Minnesota players to have recorded more than 200 receiving yards this season, while Jefferson hasn't even scored a touchdown since Week 1.
Though Cooks' 50.6 receiving yards per game this season happens to be one of the worst marks of his career, it's important to remember that he's on the Texans. He's a six-time 1,000-yard wideout and could easily find his groove on a contender with a reliable quarterback like Kirk Cousins.
Fortunately, Vikings and Cooks fans will only have to wait a few hours to find out if he'll be traded for an NFL record fourth time.
