Bills Get Update on Potential A.J. Espenesa Suspension After Week 5 Ejection

Updated:

The Buffalo Bills' 38-3 blowout victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday was not without incident for the Bills, as defensive end A.J. Espenesa was ejected after making contact with a referee during a melee.

Thankfully for Buffalo, Espenesa is not expected to receive a suspension for his actions.

The incident in question occurred when a fight broke out between the two sides towards the end of the game. Espenesa elbowed official John Hussey during the quarrel as Hussey was trying to calm Espenesa down, resulting in an immediate ejection.

After further review, it seems the NFL believes Espenesa's actions were not intentional and will not suspend him for his role in the fray. He may still end up receiving a fine, however.

Accordingly, Espenesa should be able to play during the Bills' pivotal Week 6 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo will need all hands on deck if they're going to stop Patrick Mahomes and take down Kansas City on the road in what's expected to be a tight game. The Bills are currently favored by 1.5 points on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
