Baylor vs West Virginia Prediction, Odds & Best Bet for Week 7

Updated:

Early conference losses for the Baylor Bears and West Virginia Mountaineers make their matchup on Thursday night that much more important. The pressure is on Baylor, though. The Bears fell out of the AP top 25 last week and now have to play in Morgantown, where they have posted an all-time record of 0-5.

Baylor vs West Virginia Odds

Baylor enters this contest as a -162 road favorite on the moneyline (3.5-point spread), according to FanDuel Sportsbook's college football odds. This Big 12 showdown's total is set at 54.5 points.

Which team turns its season around with a win on Thursday night, and where can bettors find value?

Baylor vs West Virginia Prediction and Best Bet

When two teams in desperate need of a win meet head-to-head, it's always safe to side with the home team. As stated above, Baylor has yet to win a game in Morgantown since West Virginia joined the Big 12 conference in 2012. The Bears' five road losses have come by an average of 14.8 points.

West Virginia's defense should cause some trouble for Baylor. The Mountaineers rank 23rd in the country in plays of 10 yards or more allowed and ranks 26th in plays of 20 or more yards allowed. Taking Baylor's best deep threat, Monary Baldwin, out of the offense would be a massive advantage.

When the Mountaineers are on offense, look for quarterback JT Daniels to take care of the football and adjust to what the defense gives him. He has thrown for 8 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions on the season. The WR trio of Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Sam James, and Kaden Prather is no joke right now.

With the crowd behind them, back the Mountaineers +3.5. As for the point total, the under has hit in seven of Baylor's last 10 games and the under has also hit in 13 of West Virginia's last 18 games as an underdog. There will be enough defensive stops for under 54.5 points to be scored in this one.
