Basketball Phenom Mikey Williams Signs Historic NIL Deal Potentially Worth Millions

Collegiate athletes have been raking in the sponsorship deals following the NCAA's recent landmark shift to allow student athletes to earn money from their name, likeness and imaging.

While some of college football's biggest stars are already approaching seven figures in sponsorship money, the nation's most famous high school basketball star might be doing them one better.

Mikey Williams Basketball

Mikey Williams is probably the most famous high school basketball player ever outside of LeBron James and Zion Williamson. With a social following already bigger than a vast majority of NBA players and stars, as well as his own show on Overtime chronicling his basketball journey, Williams has been in the spotlight since before he entered high school.

Mikey Williams and Bronny James

Capturing some initial fame as the best player on Bronny James' (son of LeBron James) AAU team, Williams is currently the No. 7 player in the 2023 class. Bronny sits at No. 41 in that same class.

Right now, Mikey is the most marketable player in that class outside of Bronny, who clearly has a leg up considering his lineage. And Williams is taking advantage of it, signing a landmark deal with Excel Sports Management to handle his endorsements, which they project "will generate millions of dollars."

This deal proves that Mikey is a one-of-a-kind athlete in this department. No other high school player has the influence and buzz he does within basketball's younger community.

Williams is still only 17 years old and won't be eligible for the NBA Draft until 2024 if the rules don't change before then. But with this deal, Mikey could be making rookie-level NBA money before he ever shakes hands with Adam Silver on stage.
