Albert Pujols Reveals His Choice for HR Derby Pitcher
MLB's All-Star Weekend festivities continue on Monday with the highly anticipated Home Run Derby. This is a stacked field, but perhaps the biggest draw is St. Louis Cardinals legend Albert Pujols, who'll be participating in his last derby.
Ahead of Monday night's event, Pujols has revealed who'll be pitching to him as he vies to go out with a bang.
Pujols has tabbed Kleininger Teran as his teammate for the event. Teran is the Cardinals' bullpen catcher and regular batting practice pitcher, making him an ideal fit for the derby.
In fact, MLB's current active home run leader knew Teran would be his partner earlier in the season, according to Katie Woo of The Athletic.
Teran originally signed with St. Louis at 16 years old out of Venezuela. He spent some time in rookie and Single-A ball before transitioning into a coaching role with the organization. Teran then became the bullpen catcher in 2015 and hasn't looked backed since.

Hopefully the 32-year-old can help Pujols finally get over the Home Run Derby hump. The future Hall-of-Famer has never won the event in four tries, though he finished as the runner-up in 2003.
