Aaron Nola's Mom Faces Difficult Position With Phillies-Padres NLCS Matchup
Both the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres flipped the baseball world (particularly the National League) on its head during the NLDS round of the postseason. The two squads shocked a pair of World Series favorites in the Atlanta Braves the Los Angeles Dodgers, and set their sights on the 2022 NLCS.
The matchup is full of intriguing superstars (Bryce Harper, Juan Soto, Manny Machado), and a couple of juicy storylines. One of the more impressive stories surrounds Phillies ace Aaron Nola.
Nola, an eight-year Phillies veteran, will have the opportunity to square off against his brother Austin (the Padres starting catcher).
The matchup also puts one mother, Stacie Nola, in the most difficult position imaginable.
Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Alex Coffey caught up with the Nola parents, Stacie and A.J., and came away with an awesome moment shared between the couple. After traveling cross-country to catch multiple games in their respective divisional series, the Nola parents had a sudden realization.
The realization surrounded the fact that only one of their sons will be making a dream trip to the World Series, and the other will go home packing early.
As it stands, FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds side with Austin and the Padres. San Diego enters the NLCS as -120 series favorites and -120 moneyline favorites in Game 1, which will be played at Petco Park.
