3 Most Likely Tony Pollard Free Agent Destinations

The NFL offseason is officially underway and the start of free agency is just around the corner. With about a month until teams can start players, franchises still have a bit of time to finalize targets and figure out which needs they want to address in free agency.

One player expected to be in high demand is Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard. While the Cowboys could opt to franchise tag him, they may decide to move on given that they already have a star RB (Ezekiel Elliott) under contract.

If Pollard is made available, here are the three teams that are most likely to sign him.

Tony Pollard Free Agency Rumors

1. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins upgraded their passing attack by trading for Tyreek Hill last offseason, so now it's time to turn their attention to the ground game. Miami struggled mightily on the ground in 2022, ranking 22nd in rush TDs, 25th in rushing yards and 31st in rushing attempts. Pollard would immediately solve that problem as one of the best running backs in the league after finishing last year with 1,007 rushing yards on 5.2 yards per carry. The Dolphins made the playoffs last year and only seem to be a few pieces away from becoming a Super Bowl contender, so adding a star like Pollard would make a ton of sense for them.

2. New York Giants

The Giants are in a tricky spot, as both Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley are set to be unrestricted free agents this offseason. New York can only franchise tag one of them, so Barkley may have to go if it ends up being Jones. Thankfully for the Giants, there might be a pretty good Barkley replacement available in Pollard, who's capable of replicating Barkley's stellar production in both the running game and the passing game. New York would also get the added benefit of stealing a Pro Bowler away from its division rival, which is always a plus.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs probably can't afford Pollard given their salary cap situation, but they could certainly use him after ranking dead-last in rushing yards, touchdowns and attempts. Tampa Bay's struggles running the ball was a major reason why the team regressed on offense, plummeting to 25th in points per game during Tom Brady's final season. With Brady not around to bail the offense out anymore, there may need to be more of an emphasis on running the football. Signing Pollard would help with that and represent a significant upgrade over Leonard Fournette.
