3 Best Prop Bets for Clippers vs Pelicans on April 1 (McCollum's Playmaking Takes Center Stage)

Updated:

Saturday's two-game NBA slate includes a showdown between the LA Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans. FanDuel Sportsbook's latest odds list the Pelicans as the 3.5-point home favorite with the projected total set at 227.5.

Here's three of the best prop bets for the Clippers-Pelicans game, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.

Clippers vs Pelicans Player Props

1. CJ McCollum — Assists: Over 5.5 (-111)

CJ McCollum has done a terrific job at finding his teammates over the last three weeks. The veteran guard has been consistent with his passing, averaging 6.2 assists over his last 11 outings. On top of that, he's finished with more than 5.5 helpers six times over that space — including an eight-assist performance against the Clippers on March 25. Considering how Los Angeles forces the eighth-fewest turnovers while allowing the 11th-most assists per game, I expect McCollum's playmaking skills to be on display yet again.

2. Kawhi Leonard — Points: Under 24.5 (-120)

It's a small sample size, but Kawhi Leonard has dealt with some struggles lately. Over his last three games, Leonard is only averaging 15.3 points while shooting 42.1% from the floor. He's now finished with the under on this prop in five of his last six outings. While he's more than capable of turning things around, I don't see it happening tonight. Leonard is averaging just 17.9 PPG in 28 previous encounters with the Pelicans, finishing with fewer than 24.5 points in three of the last four clashes. After being held to just 12 points by New Orleans last week, side with the under.

3. Jonas Valanciunas — Blocks: Over 0.5 (-130)

Jonas Valanciunas continues to be a solid paint presence as his career continues. The veteran big man is averaging 1.1 blocks over his last 14 games and has finished with at least one 10 of those outings. Now, Valanciunas gets to face a Los Angeles squad that's giving up 4.7 blocks over its last three games and were just blocked seven times by the Memphis Grizzlies last night. As long as he doesn't change anything about his game, I have a hard time imagining Valanciunas not recording at least one block tonight.
