3 Best Prop Bets for Celtics vs Clippers on Dec. 12 (LA Contains Jayson Tatum)

Updated:

Some of the best players in the NBA square off on Monday Night in Los Angeles as Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics take on Paul George and the Clippers. With Jaylen Brown, Kawhi Leonard and others also on hand, this game features no shortage of stars.

Here are three of the best prop bets for the Celtics-Clippers game, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds.

Celtics-Clippers Player Props

1. Jayson Tatum - Points: Under 28.5 (-108)

Tatum's scoring has leveled off a bit lately as he's averaging "only" 23.4 points per game over his last five contests. He's fallen into a bit of a shooting slump, hitting just 40.6% of his field goals, 32.5% of his three-pointers and 73.3% of his free throws during that stretch -- all well below his season averages. He also has a tough road matchup tonight against the Clippers' elite perimeter defense of George and Leonard. With Los Angeles allowing the fourth-fewest points per game in the NBA this year (109.2), don't expect Tatum to go off.

2. Marcus Smart - Points: Over 11.5 (-111)

Smart's scoring is notoriously hit-or-miss, but it's been more of the former than the latter lately. The streaky point guard is averaging a solid 14.1 points per game over his last seven contests for Boston, helping pick up the scoring slack during Tatum's skid. Smart has also been efficient with his shot during that timeframe, drilling 52.1% of his field goals and 42.5% of his threes. If he can stay hot from downtown, he only needs a few treys to help push him across this modest line.

3. Kawhi Leonard - Points: Under 17.5 (-104)

This is a curious line to me, as Leonard has not scored 17 points in any of his eight games this season. He's averaging only 11.6 points per game this season and has looked awfully rusty since returning to LA's lineup, averaging just 14.3 points on 37.2% shooting over his last three games. There's an expectation that the Clippers will score more tonight against the Celtics' middling defense, but betting on a Leonard breakout performance doesn't strike me as particularly wise.
