10 Best NFL Free Agent Offensive Linemen in 2023

10 Best NFL Free Agent Offensive Linemen in 2023

Being able to protect the quarterback by keeping him upright and healthy is crucial to any NFL team's success. The players up front are the unsung heroes that help the offense fire on all cylinders week after week. That's what makes building a strong offensive line a top priority for every front office.

Any team with a hole along the starting offensive line needs to constantly be on the lookout for upgrades the position, and unless you've landed a top draft pick then that means using free agency. Here's a look at the 10 best free agent offensive linemen available in the 2023 NFL offseason.

10 Best Free Agent Offensive Linemen 2023

1. Orlando Brown Jr., Kansas City Chiefs

Orlando Brown Jr. first proved in Baltimore that he can shine in a run-heavy offense and then proved in Kansas City that he can thrive in a pass-heavy offense, too. The four-time Pro Bowler is a reliable blindside blocker that has played in over 1,000 offensive snaps in each of the last four seasons. After failing to agree to a long-term deal with the Chiefs in the 2022 offseason, Brown is set to cash in with a massive contract.

2. Mike McGlinchey, San Francisco 49ers

Talk about a bounce-back season. Mike McGlinchey's 2021 season came to an end after just eight games due to a torn quadriceps injury. He returned in 2022 to play over 1,000 offensive snaps and only allow 6 sacks while protecting three different starting quarterbacks. Keep in mind he ranks among the top 10 offensive tackles in Pro Football Focus' run-blocking grade since entering the league in 2018.

3. Jason Kelce, Philadelphia Eagles

It is widely expected around the NFL that Jason Kelce will either re-sign with the Philadelphia Eagles or retire this offseason. In the off chance he decides to test the open market, the interest in him should be sky-high. Kelce earned a first-team All-Pro nod in 2022 and has not allowed a single sack since Week 11 of the 2020 season. He is the definition of pure dominance at the center position.

4. Dalton Risner, Denver Broncos

While Dalton Risner may not be a household name quite yet, expect him to be on after he signs a huge deal in free agency. The former Kansas state standout allowed just 3.0 sacks and drew 1 penalty in over 1,000 offensive snaps played for Denver in 2022. Risner fits right in with a rebuilding team at 27 years of age, too.

5. Ben Powers, Baltimore Ravens

Excelling in a contract year usually leads to increased attention in the free agent market and that is exactly what Ben Powers is hoping for. Powers posted the second-best pass-blocking grade among guards this season thanks to the fact that he gave up zero sacks and one quarterback hit despite blocking for three different mobile quarterbacks.

6. Kaleb McGary, Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons notably declined Kaleb McGary's fifth-year option during the 2022 offseason, which sets him up for a decent payday in free agency. The 2019 first-round pick ranked behind only Trent Williams in Pro Football Focus' run-blocking grade in 2022 and continues to improve in his pass-blocking technique.

7. Jawaan Taylor, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jawaan Taylor is a wild card in these rankings. While his run-blocking abilities still need to be improved, the 25-year-old showcased outstanding pass-blocking skills this past year. He posted a stellar 5.2% pressure rate allowed and has major upside as a 6-foot-5 beast of a lineman.

8. Isaac Seumalo, Philadelphia Eagles

No one expected much from Isaac Seumalo entering the 2022 NFL season. He was overshadowed by players like Kelce and Lane Johnson, yet still found a way to make a name for himself. Seumalo allowed zero quarterback hits over the final eight weeks of the season and proved he can be relied on in the biggest moments.

9. Kelvin Beachum, Arizona Cardinals

NFL teams are always looking for veteran mentors and Kelvin Beachum fits that role to a tee. He has played in at least 13 games in each of the last seven seasons and just earned his 10th straight pass-blocking grade of over 70.0 by Pro Football Focus. Beachum is a model of consistency.

10. Ethan Pocic, Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns would love to have Ethan Pocic back after he allowed just 1 sack and drew 2 penalties in over 800 offensive snaps played. They may not have the cap space to do so with money tied up in other offensive lineman contracts, though. That leaves him as an intriguing and underrated option for teams in need of a center.
