A week after falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, the San Francisco 49ers are still licking their wounds. The 49ers saw their season end one game short of the Super Bowl after quarterbacks Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson both suffered injuries in the NFC title game, resulting in a 31-7 blowout loss for San Fran.

Some 49ers players are still understandably salty about their bad injury luck and how the game played out, including wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Aiyuk took a bizarre shot at the Eagles' defense, saying it got "extremely lucky" against the 49ers and believing the Kansas City Chiefs will expose it in the big game.

Sorry, Brandon, but the numbers don't lie. Philadelphia's defense was statistically one of the best in football this year, giving up the second-fewest yards per game and eighth-fewest points per game. The Eagles have also been exceptional during the playoffs, holding both of their opponents to seven points apiece so far.

Philly's defense will be put to the test in Super Bowl 57 against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who led the NFL in both points and yards per game this season. Kansas City is dealing with injuries to several key offensive players, however, that may be less than 100% next weekend.

The oddsmakers do not agree with Aiyuk's assessment and believe the Eagles will do just enough to squeak past the Chiefs. Philadelphia is currently listed as a 1.5-point favorite on FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl 57 odds.
