Collin Morikawa U.S. Open Prediction 2023
Although his first two U.S. Open showings left something to be desired, Collin Morikawa has turned things around as of late. He placed T4 and T5 in 2021 and 2022, respectively, while finishing four strokes back of first place on both occasions.
More 2023 U.S. Open coverage on The Duel:
Morikawa has experienced some highs and lows throughout the 2023 PGA season. On one hand, he has four top-10 showings in 17 events and was even the runner-up at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. On the other hand, he's missed the cut twice in his last five events and was most recently forced to withdraw from the Memorial Tournament earlier this month due to back spasms.
While he's played extremely well at the U.S. Open over the last two years, Morikawa's back issues do raise some concerns. That's why I'm erring on the side of caution by backing a top-20 performance at +125 odds. Morikawa has the potential to finish much higher than that, but his injury history and inconsistency this season make picking a safer bet the smarter choice.
