FanDuel Sets Odds on Justin Jefferson Breaking Single-Season Receiving Record in Week 18

FanDuel Sets Odds on Justin Jefferson Breaking Single-Season Receiving Record in Week 18

Updated:

With the NFL moving to a 17-game schedule, it left the a ton off single-season records in jeopardy. Pair that with an explosion in passing production over the last 5-10 years and it's creating the perfect storm for QBs and wide receivers.

Just last year Cooper Kupp came up just 17 yards short of Calvin Johnson's single-season receiving yards record.

Now, as Week 18 approaches this season, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is in range of breaking Johnson's single-season receiving yards record.

Justin Jefferson Record-Breaking Season

Jefferson currently has 1,771 yards with one game to play, meaning he needs to haul in a total of 193 yards to tie the record and 194 to break the record. Now there will always be some debate over the legitimacy of these new records among the fans since the guys are now getting an additional game, but in terms of the NFL record books, they will be fully valid.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook'a latest NFL odds, Jefferson is at +440 to break the record and -770 to come up short.

Jefferson does draw an easy matchup in Week 18 against a horrendous Chicago Bears defense that ranks dead last in the NFL in opponent points per game. In Jefferson's last matchup against the Bears in Week 5, he had a monster game, but still only had 154 receiving yards. Even a repeat performance would leave him short.

That being said, Jefferson has put up the numbers he needs in other games this season. In Week 10, Jefferson had 193 yards against the Buffalo Bills and in Week 14 he had 223 yards against the Detroit Lions.

Any way you slice it, 193 yards is a tall task, but Jefferson has proven he can pull it off this year.

The Vikings are currently 7.5-point road favorites against the Bears in Week 18, according to FanDuel Sportbsook's latest NFL odds.
