Knicks vs. 76ers: Betting Picks and Prediction for Game 6

The Philadelphia 76ers are returning home in Game 6 to square off against the New York Knicks following a 112-106 overtime victory in Game 5. Despite keeping the series alive, the 76ers are being given +300 odds to win the series, and the Knicks to win the series 4-2 has the shortest odds of happening at +135 in the "series correct score" section.

It was a special performance from Tyrese Maxey in Game 5, who produced 46 points, five rebounds, and nine assists on 17-for-30 shooting from the field in nearly 52 minutes of action. Will Maxey and Joel Embiid carry the 76ers to another win and force a Game 7? Or will New York put an end to Philadelphia's postseason dreams in front of their home crowd?

Ahead of what should be yet another physical bout between the Knicks and 76ers, let's dive into the advanced stats and discuss the best bets for Game 6.

Knicks vs. 76ers Best Bet

Over 201 (-108)

The Knicks and the 76ers are both slower-paced teams who prefer to have long possessions that end in an efficient shot. At the same time, both of these teams are in the top five in adjusted offensive rating, which makes the over of 201.5 an intriguing bet for Game 6.

Through the first five games of the series, both teams are logging offensive ratings of 115.0 or higher. Additionally, we've seen 205-plus points scored in four of the first five games -- even if it took overtime for the over to connect in Game 5.

Not only are the duo of Embiid and Maxey averaging 64.2 points per game for the 76ers, Jalen Brunson has been doing his part with three consecutive games where he's scored 39-plus points for the Knicks. Someone needs to step up alongside Brunson in a game where New York can potentially eliminate Philadelphia, with the likely culprits being Josh Hart and/or OG Anunoby.

It's clear that the Knicks and 76ers are comfortable taking plenty of threes in this series given the fact that both squads are in the bottom 11 teams in defensive three-point rate. Entering Game 6, New York is attempting 32.2 three-pointers per game while Philadelphia is chucking up 34.8 threes per game.

While some may envision a low-scoring affair in Thursday's showdown, numberFire is predicting a 107.35 to 104.65 win for the 76ers. Just to add on to that, numberFire is also giving the over a 68.78% chance of occurring when the -108 odds for over 201 points suggest a 51.9% chance.

Knicks vs. 76ers Prop Bet

Tyrese Maxey Over 33.5 Points + Assists (-102)

For those who weren't aware of how talented Maxey was before this series, you're getting treated to a stellar series from the NBA's Most Improved Player of the Year. The fourth-year guard out of Kentucky is averaging 32.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game on 50% shooting from the field and 42.9% shooting from beyond the arc.

Maxey is coming off a 46-point performance in Game 5, and he's supplied 33-plus points in three of the first five games of the series. Seeing that Maxey has nearly hit the over on his points-plus-assists line of 33.5 on points alone multiple times, we'll take him to continue making a name for himself in the postseason in front of the Philadelphia faithful at Wells Fargo Center.

What makes this prop even more enticing is the fact the Knicks surrender a decent number of three-point shots per game. As mentioned above, both of these teams are in the bottom 11 in defensive three-point rate, with New York logging the sixth-highest defensive three-point rate (41.4%).

Throughout the series, Maxey has attempted eight-plus threes in each game, and he's converted at least three of them in each game. With the Knicks doubling Embiid often, Maxey boasts the second-highest usage rate (29.7%) on the 76ers, and he's dished out six-plus assists in four consecutive outings.

In the eight meetings versus New York this season -- including the playoffs -- Maxey has reached 34-plus points and assists in five of them.
