College Basketball Prop Bets

(11) NC State vs. (2) Marquette, 7:09 p.m. ET

Tyler Kolek Over 24.5 Points + Assists (-113)

Since returning from injury in the NCAA Tournament, Tyler Kolek (15.3PPG, 7.9 APG) has been extremely productive for the Marquette Golden Eagles. In the first two rounds of the tourney, the senior guard has tallied 18-plus points, five-plus rebounds, and 11-plus assists in each contest.

Kolek has posted double-digit assists in four of his last five outings, and he's attempted 13-plus shots in the two tournament games he's played in. On the defensive end of the court, the North Carolina State Wolfpack are 183rd in effective field-goal percentage allowed (50.5%) and 155th in free-throw rate allowed (31.9%).

Provided those numbers, Kolek should have another efficient shooting performance and have a chance to have more opportunities at the charity stripe. While Kolek has combined for 25-plus points and assists just 13 times this season, nine of those have come in his last 14 contests.

With the Golden Eagles setting their sights on advancing to the Elite Eight, I expect Kolek to continue performing at an elite level against NC State.

(5) Gonzaga vs. (1) Purdue, 7:39 p.m. ET

Braden Smith Over 18.5 Points + Assists (-125)

Forgotten among the dominant performances by Zach Edey (24.5 PPG, 12.1 RPG) in this year's tournament is how important Braden Smith (12.3 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 7.3 APG) is to the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue didn't need Smith to do much in their 106-67 victory over the Utah State Aggies in the Second Round as he played just 22 minutes, but he'll be needed against the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Besides being the primary facilitator on the Boilermakers with a massive 37.9% assist percentage, Smith is also one of the best three-point shooters, knocking down an efficient 44% of his outside shots. Across his 35 games played this season, Smith has achieved 19-plus points and assists in 23 of them.

Before logging just 22 minutes in the Round of 32, Smith had played 34-plus minutes in six of his previous seven appearances. Considering that Gonzaga is expected to keep this game somewhat competitive as 5.5-point underdogs, Smith should clear 30 minutes on Friday.

Despite not being desperately needed thus far in the tourney, the Boilermakers will need their experienced guard to be involved early and often to be one of the final eight teams remaining.

(4) Duke vs. (1) Houston, 9:39 p.m. ET

Kyle Filipowski Over 8.5 Rebounds (-132)

Amid a lopsided 93-55 win over the James Madison Dukes in the Second Round, Kyle Filipowski (16.6 PPG, 8.2 RPG) was limited to 21 minutes for the Duke Blue Devils as he also picked up four fouls. The 7-foot center should see plenty more minutes, and he'll have a size advantage versus the Houston Cougars in the Sweet 16.

The Cougars don't have a player on their roster that gets consistent minutes that is taller than 6-foot-8. As a result, Houston is 229th in defensive rebound rate allowed (30.2%).

Despite Filipowski reaching nine-plus boards in only 14 of his 34 games this season, two of those have come in the last three contests. Filipowski has been more active on the offensive glass with four-plus offensive rebounds in two of his last three games, and Houston allowed 45 total rebounds to the Texas A&M Aggies in the Round of 32.

With a clear size advantage and the Cougars struggling in the rebound department at times, Filipowski could have a double-digit rebound outing on Friday.

(3) Creighton vs. (2) Tennessee, 10:09 p.m. ET

Zakai Zeigler Over 5.5 Assists (-132)

The Tennessee Volunteers are expected to be in a close game against the Creighton Blue Jays with the second-smallest spread (2.5) of the games in the Sweet 16. Given how he's performed in the tourney so far, the assists prop for Zakai Zeigler (11.7 PPG, 6.0 APG) seems too low for Friday's showdown.

Zeigler has dished out seven-plus assists in each of the first two games in the NCAA Tournament, and he's registered six-plus assists in 12 of his last 17 games. The playmaking guard leads the Volunteers with a 34.2% assist percentage and the Bluejays are 362nd in defensive turnover rate (11.2%).

Taking that into account, Ziegler -- who averages 2.2 turnovers per game -- should be able to operate the offense smoothly with little to no issues.

It also helps that Ziegler gets to pass the ball to the likes of Dalton Knecht (21.1 PPG) and Jonas Aidoo (12.0 PPG, 7.6 RPG). Even with Creighton potentially slowing this game down with the 213th adjusted tempo (66.9), Ziegler should record six-plus assists for the third consecutive game in the NCAA Tournament.
