Las Vegas has been at the pinnacle of the league since Becky Hammon took over as the head coach, winning 60 combined games the last two seasons on their way to back-to-back championships. Last season, they managed to win 34 regular-season games -- a record for the WNBA. This year, the Aces will try to do the same as they return most of their loaded lineup.

Can Vegas win at least 34 games again?

That's what they'll need to do to get to the over on their 2024 win total, per FanDuel Sportsbook's WNBA win totals.

Why Las Vegas Could Win Over 33.5 Games (-104)

Winning 34 games last year was historic for the Aces. As mentioned above, it's the record for most wins in a single season in WNBA history.

The Aces' win total for this coming season has been set at 33.5 games, so the market is expecting another elite season. It's hard to argue. While Becky Hammon remains the head coach, their core of A'ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, and Chelsea Gray is ready to run it back yet again.

Wilson is entering the season as the favorite for the MVP, boasting +125 odds to win the WNBA MVP, per FanDuel Sportsbook. If she wins it this season, that would mark her third MVP, and there was an argument that she could have won the honor back-to-back years.

This team plays elite basketball on both ends of the court. Las Vegas had an average plus/minus of +12.6 last season. That's pure domination to average wins by double-digits through an entire season. In terms of shooting, they had the best field goal percentage in the league at 48.6% and were second from beyond the arc at 37.2%.

It's hard to bet against the Aces with all they have going for them, and they have the pieces in place to win at least 34 games again.

Why Las Vegas Could Win Under 33.5 Games (-122)

Vegas is an amazing squad, but it is going to take them matching history to avoid being under 33.5 wins, which is likely why this side is the slight favorite in the market.

To hit the over, Las Vegas would be able to lose only six games in the entire regular season. And while, yes, they've already done it before, asking them to do it in back-to-back campaigns is a tall task.

Another big reason they may not be able to repeat the same regular season they put forth last year is due to the retirement of Candace Parker. Parker had re-signed in the offseason but announced on April 28th that she'd be retiring from professional basketball.

The 16-year veteran played just 18 games for the Aces last season, but she added another option to their already loaded squad. They notably went 16-2 with her available, showing how great of an addition Parker was in a reserve role.

The Aces are likely to be the best team in the league. There's a reason they are the favorite to win it all -- listed at +100 odds to win the WNBA championship.

That being said, I side with the under due to how little leeway there is. One injury or a bad stretch can make it exceedingly difficult for Vegas to hit the over.
