OVERVIEW
BET TYPES
There are three types of bets you can make in Baccarat: Banker, Player, or Tie.
The Banker Bet
The banker is one of the two hands dealt in each round of Baccarat. The banker does not represent the dealer or another player at the table. It is simply a hand that you can choose to bet with or against. Bets on the banker pay even money (1:1). If the banker hand wins, you will be charged a 5% commision because the odds of the banker hand winning are slightly higher.
The Player Bet
The player is the name of the other hand that is dealt in each round of Baccarat. The player does not represent the dealer or another player at the table. It is simply another hand that you can choose to bet with or against. Bets on the banker pay even money (1:1).
The Tie Bet
A tie occurs when both the player and banker have identical hands. The odds are much longer than a player or banker bet to win, but the payout is much higher at 9:1.
RULES OF BACCARAT
Remember, the goal is to pick if the player’s hand or the banker’s hand will add up closer to nine points. Let’s take a look at how we add up points and how many cards each hand is dealt when we play Baccarat.
Card Values
Each card is worth a certain number of points based on their face value
Card | Value |
---|---|
Ace | 1 Point |
2 through 9 | 2 Points - 9 Points (Cards are worth their face value) |
10, Jack, Queen, King | 0 Points |
Add up all of the cards in your hand to get your final point total. If your hand adds up to 10 or more, you subtract 10 to get your score. For example, if your hand has a 7 and an 8, its value is 5 (7 + 8 = 15, we then subtract 10 to get a final value of 5).
Natural Wins
If either the player’s or banker’s first two cards add up to eight or nine, that is considered a natural win, which means the round ends and the winning hand is paid out right away.
For example, if the player is dealt eight points and the banker is dealt nine points, the banker wins with nine points automatically. Likewise, if the player’s hand is dealt eight points and the banker’s hand is dealt a zero, the player wins and the banker doesn’t get a chance to pull a third card to try and improve their hand.
Drawing A Third Card
If neither hand has a natural win, a third card may be drawn according to a set of predetermined rules
- If the player's hand has a total value of 0-5, they draw a third card.
- If the player's hand has a total value of 6-7, they stand.
- If the player stands, the banker draws a third card if their hand has a total value of 0-5 and stands if their hand has a total value of 6-7.
The dealer will automatically deal a third card if it's needed. If you ever want to check the rules, they are available in the ‘game information’ section at the Baccarat table.

Gameplay Walkthrough
- Place A Bet
Bet on the player’s hand, the banker’s hand, or a tie. - Cards Are Dealt
The dealer will then deal two cards to the player and two cards to the banker. A third card will be dealt if needed. - Add Up Your Points
The total value of a hand is determined by adding up the values of the individual cards with the highest possible total being 9. If the total value of your hand is 10 or more, the value is adjusted by subtracting 10 from the total. - Get Paid If You Win!
Winning Player bets get paid even money (1:1). Winning Banker bets also get paid even money (1:1), but you must pay a 5% commission on your winnings. For example, if you bet $100 on the Banker and won, you would receive $95. Winning Tie bets pay out at the longest odds (9:1).
